Bournemouth and Poole Chlamydia Screening Programme

What does it do?

Offers free Chlamydia testing and treatment to sexually active between the ages of 16 to 24 years  so that young people can get tested for chlamydia.

What are the service opening times?

Chlamydia screening office is open Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm.  But you may see the team out testing at anytime during the day or night. You can send for a postal kit to test for chlamydia by going to www.f-risky.co.uk and the test will be sent out  in the post in a plain brown evenvelope.

Anyone can refer by contacting the number below or you can walk into a youth advisory clinic across Bournemouth andPooleto do a test.

What functions/treatment and therapies are offered?

Asymptomatic (no symptoms) screening is offered to 16 -24 years at a variety of venues throughout Bournemouth and Poole. The screening teams are out screening in colleges, Universities, pubs and clubs or via the website www.f-risky.co.uk. The service offers confidential treatment for those testing positive as well as treating the partner(s) of anyone who tests positive with Chlamydia

Which types of illness/medical condition does the service treat?

Anyone between the age of 16 and 24 years of age who lives in Bournemouth and Poole and is sexually active can order a test.

Who will I see?

If you are doing a test you may see one of our Chlamydia outreach workers, a Chlamydia nurse or advisor. Anyone who tests positive for Chlamydia may talk to our advisor or nurse on the phone and will be seen by a nurse for treatment.

As a patient, how do I access services?

You can be order a test online at www.f-risky.co.uk where you can also find details of local clinics where tests can also be carried out.  GPs, some pharmacies and youth clubs may also be able to test you.  You can call the number below for more information or advice about Chlamydia.

How can I get involved / what support groups are available?

There are no known support groups for people with Chlamydia in theUK; however our staff support all of our patients throughout the process.

Bournemouth and Poole Chlamydia Screening Office do not run their own clinics, but you can go to any one of the regular contraception and sexual health clinics in the area, just visit www.f-risky.co.uk to find out where your nearest one is and information on how to book an appointment
