The Friends

We are a registered charity promoting the work of our hospital and the wellbeing of its patients and staff.

We helped to fund numerous new pieces of equipment and building projects over the years ensuring the hospital continues to deliver excellent standards of treatment and care to its community.

Our involvement includes the extension and improvement of inpatient facilities with the construction of the Stanley Purser Wing, the building of a new outpatients Department, the renovation of the kitchen and more recently the alteration and revamping of the minor injuries unit (MIU).

The work has been essential in providing and updating much of the expensive equipment needed in progressive services at the hospital including x-rays, ultrasound, some specialist surgical equipment and providing hospital transport.

Our fundraising activities in recent years include the Hospital Summer Fete and Autumn Fayre plus regular Christmas concerts with the Belvedere Singers.

Why not become a Friend and help us?

By giving us an annual donation, a suggested minimum £5.00, you will be providing us with predictable funds to help us in the planning of future projects. As a Friend, you will also be invited to our Annual General Meeting in October each year.

For taxpayers, the value of your gift can be increased by 28% simply by ticking the Gift Aid declaration in the membership form. This allows us to reclaim the tax you have already paid.

To become a Friend, please complete the application form and, if you wish to, the standing order form including gift aid declaration. If you prefer, please contact us directly and we will send a Friends application form in the post to you.

Our Secretary can be contacted on 01929 475006.

To date we have around 900 Friends, so please sign up, you will be in very good company!

Legacies

A large proportion of our funds come from legacies and, as a charity, we can receive donations tax free from your estate if the correct wording is in your will. This can be discussed with your legal adviser.

We continue to promote and support the work of the hospital and the wellbeing of its patients, none of which could be achieved, without the ongoing support and encouragement we receive from our local community.
