Dorset HealthCare and NHS Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group are holding two public meetings to explain how the new Dorset Community Pain Service will operate. 

Dorset HealthCare is partnering with the Dorset Mental Health Forum to host a beach walk with fun and games along the way on Friday 17May to mark Mental Health Awareness Week (13 – 19 May).The four-hour walk will start at 12pm on Shore Road, Sandbanks (near Jazz Café), pass Bournemouth Pier and finish at Boscombe Pier.

Dorchester district nurse, Alison Macintyre, has retired from Dorset HealthCare after 24 years of nursing in the Dorchester area.

Dorset HealthCare is trialling a new hydration system in its community hospitals to help to keep patients - who may find it difficult to drink by themselves - hydrated.  The Trust has introduced the new drinking system to help improve patient care by keeping patients well hydrated and potentially shortening their stay in hospital.

From 1 April 2013, all patients in Dorset HealthCare’s community hospital wards and minor injury units will be offered the ‘Friends and Family Test’ question.

Dorset HealthCare is hosting two six-week courses to help mothers deal with the emotional challenges that can accompany being a parent. Dorset HealthCare has been awarded the contract for the Dorset wide Community Persistent Pain Management Service.  The service aims to help people to deal with their pain through the provision of a physical, psychological and social assessment.  Personalised care packages and plans with appropriate interventions will be developed to help individuals manage their pain.
