Surfing For Mental Health

The Wave Project in Dorset is today celebrating three year’s funding from the Big Lottery Fund and local NHS Trust, Dorset HealthCare for an innovative service which uses surfing as a therapeutic intervention for young people facing mental health difficulties. The pioneering project offers a unique form of therapy for young people, combining surfing and peer-mentoring to help clients build confidence and motivation. Originally trialled as a one-year pilot project, the money from the Big Lottery Fund and the NHS will ensure its continued success for the next three years.
