Dorset HealthCare has successfully applied for hundreds of thousands of pounds investment into technology for its nurses and care staff across the county. The funding will be used to buy lightweight, ultra portable laptops to support nurses to develop modern practices and do their jobs more easily.

Dorset HealthCare is holding a course for family, carers and friends of people living with bipolar disorder.  The course starts on Wednesday 15th January 2014 from 6pm - 8pm and lasts for 10 weeks until 19th March.  Sessions will take place every Wednesday evening at the Bournemouth University Lansdowne Campus.

Refurbishments Underway at Hanham Ward Victoria Hospital

Give up for your pets

If you are a smoker and need another reason to kick the habit – perhaps it’s time to spare a thought for your family pet. Dorset HealthCare’s Stop Smoking Service is launching a poster campaign in local vet surgeries to encourage smokers to give up the cigarettes to benefit both themselves and their furry friends.

Support for Breastfeeding mothers

Dorset HealthCare Breastfeeding Support Team has recently updated its training for volunteer breastfeeding peer supporters - who provide mother-to-mother breastfeeding support. The role of the volunteer is to welcome new mothers to breastfeeding support groups, promote breastfeeding throughout the local community and develop new initiatives in conjunction with the service.

Home Safety and Falls Prevention Events

Dorset HealthCare and the Partnership for Older People’s Programme (POPP) have teamed up with Dorset Fire and Rescue and a number of other agencies for a series of Home Safety and Falls Prevention events. The events which will take place across the county throughout October and November are for anyone aged 50 and over.
