Crisis and Home treatment Response Team

What does it do?

The purpose of the Crisis Home Treatment Service is to offer support and treatment for adults experiencing acute mental health problems. The service exists to provide a safe alternative to inpatient care for people requiring acute care. The Crisis Home Treatment Service also provides Out of Office Hours support for people who are currently recieving services from Dorset University Healthcare NHS Trust Adult Mental Health Services.

What are the service opening times?

If you would like to see a member of Crisis Home Treatment Service and have not used this service before, please ask a local health (such as your GP) or social care professional to refer you to the either the community mental health team during office hours or outside office hours to the Crisis Home Treatment Service directly. 

How can I refer?

Mental health clinicians can make referrals via the telephone during office hours for acute  assessment and outside office hours Crisis Home Treatment Service provides a single point of access for clinicians.

What functions/treatment and therapies are offered?

The service provides both clincal treatment and psychosocial treatment for people experiencing acute mental health difficulties.

Who will I see?

The team is made up from Psychiartists, Mental Health Nurses and Ocuppational Therapists. The service is also learning centre for a number of professions.

For patients known to Dorset University Healthcare NHS Trust mental health services can contact the Crisis Home Treatment Service outside office hours for support.

How can I get involved / what support groups are available?

There are a variety of surveys and audits that are undetaken with carers.
