Inpatient Complex Care and Rehabilitation
Supporting people with complex, enduring and severe mental illness to gain back their independence.
East Dorset. Both Nightingale House and Nightingale Court are also able to accept referrals for admission for individuals who live outside of the Dorset locality.
The inpatient services, Nightingale House and Nightingale Court, offer 24 hour care and can take non-urgent enquiries out of hours.
The complex care team office is open between 09.00 and 17.00, Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays).
Out of hours referrals requiring an emergency response will be undertaken by the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Service.
Both Nightingale House and Nightingale Court welcome referrals from a Responsible Clinician who feels that an inpatient stay may be beneficial for an individual with a significant mental illness, and who requires extensive rehabilitation, prior to moving on into the community.
We work with people to support their personal recovery from mental ill-health. This includes supporting individuals to develop skills which promote independence and autonomy; increasing hope and empowering people to live meaningful lives.
For Further information please refer to the Nightingale House and Nightingale Court pages, links to which can be found in the Related Information section.
We work with people who are experiencing mental health difficulties which are long term and either difficult to treat or are complicated by other conditions/illnesses, and whom require treatment in an inpatient environment.
Both Nightingale Court and Nightingale House have a full multi-disciplinary team, including Registered Mental Health Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Clinical Psychologist's and Psychiatrist.
Referrals to the complex care services must come from a Responsible Clinician.
We acknowledge the impact that caring for someone with a mental health difficulty can have on their loved ones. Both Nightingale Court and Nightingale House offer specialist care for individuals who may benefit from an inpatient stay. Knowing that your loved one is in a safe and supported environment should help to reduce some of the distress that carers often feel. Carers/family/friends are invited to attend the 6 monthly CPA Review, if it is the Service User's wish to have someone present.
Our visiting times are in line with Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust policy and are as follows:
Mon to Fri 16:00-20:00
Sat to Sun 14:00-20:00
If visiting times are needed outside of these hours, please discuss with a member of nursing staff. Visitors bringing children to the Units are asked to make prior arrangements with the Service User’s key-nurse.
