What functions/treatment and therapies are offered?

New patients are seen for consultation, examination and diagnosis and then booked for any appropriate investigations, procedures or operations.  Some treatment can be performed in the outpatient department such as banding of piles.

Which types of illness/medical condition does the service treat?

This outpatient clinic sees general surgery patients with conditions such as hernias of various kinds, patients for vasectomy or circumcision, patients with bowel problems  and piles and other conditions such as ingrowing toenails.  Patients with skin lesions and skin cancers are also seen for diagnosis and can then usually be booked for surgery under local anaesthetic in Swanage Hospital day surgery unit.
