What does it do?

To provide specialist Occupational ~Therapy assessment for patients.

What are the service opening times?

8.30 am – 4.00 pm, Monday to Friday.

Blanket referral system used on the ward.  GPs and consultants admit to the ward.

What functions/treatment and therapies are offered?

OTs carry out a range of functional assessments to assess a patient’s level of ability, and provide rehabilitation and treatment to increase their independence so that they are able to maximise their potential and be discharged to the most appropriate destination.  Functional assessments and treatments include:

Kitchen tasks, home visits, reminiscent groups and Wii habilitation, and assessments for personal care, moving and handling, environmental, transfer, wheelchair/seating and cognitive skills.
