Parkinson's Disease - Nurse led clinic

What does it do?

The service provides support to people with Parkinson's Disease and their carers/relatives.  Patients have regular reviews of their symptoms and medication to provide optimal management of the condition.

This is a monthly nurse-led clinic to review patients referred by consultant specialists and GPs.

What are the service opening times?

One Wednesday morning per month.

How can I refer?

GP or Consultant referral to Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust.

What functions/treatment and therapies are offered?
  • Sympton review.
  • Medication review and adjustment.
  • Liaison with the multi-disciplinary team and onward referral.
  • Psychological and emotional support to patient and carer/relative.
Which types of illness/medical condition does the service treat?

Parkinson's Disease and associated disorders including Vascular Parkinsonism, Progressive Supra Nuclear Palsy, Multiple System Atrophy, Corticobasal Degeneration, Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson's Disease Dementia.

A range of printed information leaflets is available from the outpatient department.
