Intensive Support Team

What does it do?

To provide input to adults with a Learning Disability who physical, mental, emotional or sensory needs require an immediate intensive response above that available from the local teams.

Service available 8.00am-8.00pm Monday to Sunday

What functions/treatment and therapies are offered?

The team provides support to clients and carers during difficult/challenging phases of their lives.  This can involve offering daily visits or telephone calls, staff training, supporting clients and staff at clinic/dental appointments and the monitoring of medication.  We also offer training around relationships and facilitate access to appropriate employment/day opportunities.

Who will I see?

An appropriate member of the team consisting of nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists and speech & language therapists.

Through your local community LD team.

How can I get involved / what support groups are available?

Information is provided to carers as appropriate.

Where, when and how often are the clinics?

No formal clinics for this service.  Clients are normally seen in their own home or community setting.
