Kings Park Hospital, Bournemouth
Kings Park Hospital provides a comprehensive in-patient based service for Older People with organic mental health problems, e.g. dementia.
Bournemouth and Christchurch areas.
Kings Park Hospital is open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.

There are two in-patient wards:
Meyrick Ward
This is a male assessment and treatment ward that specialises in assessment and treatment for patients with mental health problems particularly dementia.
Springbourne Ward
This is a female assessment and treatment ward that specialises in assessment and treatment for patients with mental health problems particularly dementia.
Patient care is always specific to a person’s needs, with special attention on preserving their privacy/dignity and improving their quality of life. We offer additional beneficial facilities that are often not available elsewhere. These include multi-sensory rooms, which are spaces that are designed to gently stimulate or relax the senses using different aromas, lights, sounds and textures. We also offer therapeutic activities.

Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU)
The five bedded ITU located on Meyrick Ward provides intensive nursing support and treatment for male patients who have more complex conditions/behaviours.
The Day Hospital
The Day Hospital provides Multidisciplinary assessment, treatment and monitoring for older people suffering from organic and functional illness. The service enables patients to remain in the community wherever possible, and reduce the need for admission to hospital.
People with organic mental health problems, e.g. dementia.
There is a mix of qualified nursing staff and skilled mental health support workers working along side medical staff, occupational therapy and physiotherapy to provide high quality evidence based person centred care. We also have a Recreational Facilitator who facilitates a range of therapies and activities.

If you are not already accessing services please contact your GP.
Each ward welcomes your involvement and will host a variety of events for you to get involved with. Please contact the Ward Manager, or your lead professional for further details.
Each ward has an identified carers lead who will be able to update you on the information and services available.
When you support someone to access services from Kings Park hospital both you, and the person you are support will receive an information pack.
