Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust (DHUFT) has a long standing commitment to including and engaging patients/service users, carers and the wider community to help us to ensure that the services we provide continue to meet the needs of people living locally, in the most effective way possible.

St Ann's Hospital Redevelopment - Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust developed proposals to improve inpatient facilities through the modernisation of the ward environment to include: 

• Single bedrooms with en suite facilities where possible
• Plenty of natural light and attractive outside views
• High ceilings, wide corridors and a generally spacious feel
• Effective ventilation
• Separation of male and female accommodation
• Ample ward space for a range of therapeutic and social activities
• Good sightlines to enable effective staff observation and supervision
• Safe and secure access to outside recreation space.

The 2011 public consultation programme aimed to ensure that the local community was aware of the proposals, understood them and were able to comment and influence their content.  To view the 2011 Public Consultation Programme click here.
