Dorset HealthCare leading the way nationally in equality and diversity

21st July 2016

Dorset HealthCare has been chosen as a national beacon of good practice in promoting equality and diversity among patients and staff.

The Trust has become an NHS Employers Diversity and Inclusion Partner for 2016/17, where we will provide advice and guidance, and demonstrate examples of good practice in equality and diversity management both locally and across the UK.

Organisations are awarded partner status after they have demonstrated they are delivering against six measurable criteria.

These include providing examples of improving patient access and experience, empowering and engaging well with staff and showing inclusive leadership at all levels.

Having been accepted onto the national programme, the Trust will now have access to free diversity and equality training, coaching and mentoring and given the chance to influence national policies.

Equality and Diversity Manager at Dorset HealthCare, Dave Corbin, said “It is fantastic to receive recognition in this area from a national organisation that we do equality and diversity well in comparison to other trusts in the UK.

“Becoming part this programme provides us with an ideal platform to showcase what we do, learn new ways of working from other trusts and share ideas. It also brings with it some great funding and training opportunities.”

NHS Employers have now organised five meetings running until April next year where the Trust will be asked to attend to showcase examples of their best equality and diversity work via case studies and workshops.
