Green-fingered volunteers support Wimborne hospital

17th September 2019

A dedicated team of volunteers from Bournemouth’s Nationwide Building Society recently transformed part of the garden area at the Victoria Hospital in Wimborne.

The seven green-fingered helpers put in a fantastic effort at the Dorset HealthCare-run site on one of the hottest days of the year. They came well prepared with all the necessary equipment for gardening, plus hats, sun cream and water.

There was a lot of clearing, weeding and planting to do but they were all very eager and soon had the area looking ship-shape again for the hospital patients and staff to admire.

Tracy McDonagh, Hotel Service Manager at the hospital, said: “The volunteers worked extremely hard and I can’t believe how much they have cleared – what a fantastic job. We are ever so thankful.”

Nicholas Valentine, from Nationwide Building Society, added: “It’s great to hear how happy the hospital was with the volunteers. We would like to continue supporting Dorset HealthCare and arrange for more volunteers to go out and help at other community sites.”
