International Nurses Day
Join us to celebrate the work of all nurses as part of International Nurses Day (12 May) which marks the bicentenary of Florence Nightingale’s birth.
Shine a light from your window at 8.30pm tonight to recognise nurses in the profession for their dedication, commitment and kindness - espeically at the moment when they are more important than ever.
Dawn Dawson, Dorset HealthCare’s Director of Nursing, Therapies and Quality, said:
“As we celebrate the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingales birth and the International Nurses Day, I want to start by saying thank you to each and every one of our nurses.Being a nurse is a huge privilege and although the job we do can be hard at times it's also incredibly rewarding. Each of you will know first-hand the difference you make to the lives of the people you care for.
“I am particularly proud of the way our profession is dealing with the current threat of COVID-19 and those who have dedicated their lives to providing skilled, compassionate care to others.
“Please join me at 8.30pm this evening in marking this special anniversary by shining a light from your window to recognise the extraordinary efforts of nurses all around the world.”
