The induction takes them through their necessary mandatory training, as well as introducing you to our Trust Vision, Values and Behaviours, covering a variety of topics, from Equality & Diversity training to dementia awareness. The course is a corporate welcome to the organisation, as well as a chance to hear the experiences of some of our service users and carers to remind us why our work is so important.

Download the Induction Programme to see an itinerary for the day. Please note that timings may be subject to change; new starters will be send a programme with the correct timing before their induction.

Development for existing staff

Apprenticeships

Dorset Healthcare believes that everyone should have the opportunity to develop their skills, knowledge and expertise.  An apprenticeship sets people up to achieve their long-term career aspirations.

Apprenticeships give you fantastic experience in the working world and gives you hands-on training. This gives you a real chance to put your skills into practice and helps you to gain more confidence in a working environment.
Not only does your apprenticeship give you the opportunity to learn and experience your chosen career, it also makes you more employable to future companies. They’ll be able to see that you were able to apply yourself to the demands of a full-time job whilst also studying to complete the coursework element of your apprenticeship. Dedication is an important quality to employers and they’ll value your work ethic.

Apprenticeships are structured training programmes which give you a chance to work (literally) towards a qualification. Getting into employment earlier means there’s lots of potential for you to progress in your career quickly. You can also begin to earn a good salary much earlier on in your life.

If you are an existing member of staff, please contact the apprenticeship team to discuss how to express your interest in an apprenticeship email dhc.apprenticeship@nhs.net  or visit our apprenticeship pages on Doris.
