Anne Hiscock - Staff Governor

Why do you want to be a governor?
I have worked for the NHS as Nurse for over 30 years in many different roles and have a real understanding of the challenges we face as we strive to deliver high quality care. Times have never been so challenging; I recognise that in order to meet our aspirations as an Organisation, we need to rethink how we do things and attempt to reduce the burden of bureaucracy for our front line staff. I would like to widen my sphere of influence and support my Organisation and colleagues helping to ensure that the views from many perspectives can be heard at varying levels.

What skills do you feel you could bring to the role?
Working as Hospital Matron gives me access to a very wide range of people from service users and carers to every level of staff; and for me it’s about effective communication and engagement; that bit by bit we can make the changes together. Dorset HealthCare has come a long way over the past 5 years it’s a great Organisation to work for, there are innovations taking place right across the board not only in clinical services but also within

our corporate services. As one who has had a foothold in both camps, I feel I have a good perspective. I would welcome the opportunity to make a difference within a wider realm; it would be an honour to work with the Governors and Senior Team.
