Breastfeeding Support 1
The Dorset Health Care Breastfeeding Advisory Team provides breastfeeding training and support to health professionals across Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole.
They support strategic developments within the Trust regarding breastfeeding.
They promote breastfeeding awareness across the county with schemes such as the ‘Breastfeeding Welcome Scheme’ and other innovative breastfeeding promotions.
Families and Babies (FAB), is a charity offering weekly peer support groups across Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole.
Volunteer peer supporters are mothers who have undertaken training to help other mums on their breastfeeding journeys. They give support and evidence-based information to help women make informed choices, deal with any problems and continue breastfeeding for as long as they wish.
- a text message contact (or phone call in priority cases) following discharge from hospital or home birth to offer support throughout the postnatal period
