Senior Communications Officer

A comms all-rounder who can use the full mix of skills to tell our story

Recovering from COVID-19 and transforming our services is high on our agenda and there’s an exciting story to tell.

You could be supporting services to publicise their good work or working to keep our 6,000+ staff engaged and informed so they can do the best possible job to improve the health and wellbeing of Dorset people.

You’ll be adept at writing scintillating copy, whether it’s for the web, social media, traditional media releases or targeted newsletters.

And you’ll understand the importance of rich content like video, audio, photography and animation and be willing and able to develop creative ways to get our messages across to our audiences.

You’ll be curious and compassionate in helping our diverse workforce to share stories and demonstrate the great work Dorset HealthCare does.

Senior Communications and Engagement Officer - New Hospitals Programme

Listening to communities and showcasing our exciting capital projects

Fixed term for 2 years

We need a creative and collaborative communications and engagement lead who can support a range of capital projects across our beautiful county.

Our drive to develop flexible, efficient and sustainable facilities for our patients and staff means there’s a strong story to tell. And our solid track record of working in partnership gives us a great basis for listening and collaborating with our stakeholders.

This new role will focus on ensuring that we communicate and listen well as we deliver on community hubs, mental health facilities and projects to expand existing services.

You’ll be comfortable interacting with a wide range of people, using supportive and engaging tactics to seek out views and feed them into our plans.

You’ll aso know the latest comms techniques to get our messages across with maximum impact, whether it’s video, web, social media or a good old-fashioned leaflet drop.

Supporting our clinicians to keep our communities safe

Could you tell the next part of the story about COVID-19 vaccination, supporting Dorset people to protect themselves against the virus that’s impacted everyone’s lives?

The roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccination programme has been one of the biggest turning points of the pandemic, helping us find a way out of the restrictions.

And with vaccination continuing as a cornerstone of the response to the virus, it’s vital that we continue to communicate and engage well with people on how they can access their jab.

We need to top notch communicator to help deliver the next phase of our communications and engagement plan, which will support our operational teams as they protect local people.

There’s plenty to do for a proactive and creative comms whizz - you’ll be energised by crafting persuasive content using everything in the comms toolbox – from posters to web content, audio to video.

You’ll work closely with a new engagement lead and uptake manager to ensure we create campaigns, materials and activities which work for our audiences and communities.
