Community Mental Health Team (CMHT)
"These are careers that change lives"
Dorset Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT) provide mental health support to people aged 18 and over with significant mental health problems. We work with patients across Dorset communities and our services are now expanding to reach more adults and deliver even better care. CMHTs work closely with GPs, social services and other local support services. We operate 13 community mental health teams for adults across Dorset (including Bournemouth and Poole) to support people at home and prevent unnecessary admissions into hospital.
CMHTs provide care, advice and information to people living with a range of mental health conditions, including:
- schizophrenia and psychotic or delusional disorders
- affective disorders such as mania, manic depression and moderate/severe depression
- phobias, anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder
- personality disorders that cause significant distress or risk to the individual or others.
Our teams goal is to help people manage, or recover from, their conditions and lead healthy, fulfilling lives. We need the very best people to help us achieve this in our expanding teams, so we’re now recruiting for staff across a range of professions.
