Yeatman Hospital in Sherborne has officially opened a newly refurbished reception area and upgraded clinic rooms, thanks to funding support from its charitable Friends group.

The Friends of the Yeatman Hospital provided £170K to enhance the experience of visitors, patients and staff at the site, which is run by Dorset HealthCare
Improvements include a more welcoming, spruced-up new reception area, refurbished clinic areas, the newly dedicated John Stokoe Room which is for groups to get together and access services - and a wellbeing room where people can take time out to relax and reflect.
There is also striking new artwork throughout the reception and clinic spaces, created by the Salisbury Art Team, with local artist Leslie Self earning particular praise for her contributions.
Representatives from the Friends attended the opening ceremony, alongside West Dorset MP Ed Morello, Dorset HealthCare’s Chief Nursing Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Dawn Dawson, the Trust’s locality manager Helen Lawes, and other community representatives.
Dawn Dawson said:
“I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Friends of the Yeatman Hospital for their unwavering support, and for helping ensure the hospital remains the best possible place for both patients and staff, right here in the community.”
Chair of the Friends of the Yeatman Hospital Jo Mears added:
“I am extremely proud of the Friends’ on-going support and the transformation of these vital patient and staff spaces. The transformation has been truly remarkable.”
Throughout the refurbishment, hospital staff continued to deliver care while working from a temporary location during the colder winter months, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
The Yeatman Hospital delivers a wide range of services, including rehabilitation, end-of-life care and outpatient clinics such as orthopaedics, urology, ophthalmology, audiology and physiotherapy.
