Local Support and Resources

If you are pregnant, need support or information about breastfeeding your baby and would like to meet other breastfeeding mums, please visit your local support groups.

For groups throughout Dorset please see:

The FAB service aims to provide breastfeeding support and information via SMS, telephone, social media and predominately at Breastfeeding Support Groups. Groups are run by accredited breastfeeding peer supporters who have undergone the training needed to be able to support mums through breastfeeding. Breastfeeding Support Groups are held in local Children’s Centres and other community venues to make them accessible. FAB also offer the opportunity for mums to train as breastfeeding peer supporters and volunteer within their community. Antenatal mums are welcome to attend groups.

Breastfeeding Phone App

Dorset Healthcare University NHS Foundation Trust are pleased to announce that they now have a Breastfeeding Phone App - Breast Start - which is free to download.

This means that you can access information on breastfeeding at a time and place that suits you, at the touch of a button.

This is a valuable asset and will help you access more information regarding how to breastfeed / benefits / how to express breast milk, and safe sleeping advice, as well as details of all the local Breastfeeding Support Groups throughout Dorset.

It is important to note that this is not designed to replace information from your Midwife or Health Visitor, but to enhance it. There are several links within the Phone App that link to video clips, and further detailed information.

We hope that you find the Phone App useful and would be happy to receive any comments.
