Early intervention in psychosis service (EIS)
EIS provides support to people aged between 14-65 who appear to be experiencing a first episode of psychosis or a suspected first episode of psychosis.
What is psychosis?
Psychosis is the term used to explain a number of experiences including hearing 'voices', having unusual and frightening ideas and a loss of energy or drive.
Psychosis is a condition which is receptive to effective treatments and interventions.
If your child or the young person you are looking after seems to be experiencing mental health difficulties it can be a bewildering and frightening time. Getting the young person help early increases the chance of them experiencing a complete recovery.
What service does EIS provide?
The staff at EIS are trained professionals and experts in assessing, treating and supporting young people in the early stages of a psychotic illness.
EIS assesses young people and can offer support for up to three years. This may include social, psychological and emotional support, as well as medical input.
