STRIVE (Support, Treatment, Risk Management, Identity, Values and Enabling) is part of the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) pathway, a jointly commissioned partnership between His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) and NHS England.
The OPD pathway is a voluntary service that provides support and treatment services for people with personality difficulties, whose complex mental health problems are linked to their serious offending. It provides supported, work-based training and placements for people coming out of prison, offering a vital bridge between custody and employment in the community.
STRIVE sits within the Dorset Forensic Services and is a multi-disciplinary team divided into two parts:
- Core and Intensive Intervention
- Risk Management Service (IIRMS).
Core provides a consultation and formulation service to probation practitioners. This service aims to assist probation practitioners to support and manage people they are supervising in a psychologically informed way through case consultation and formulation. It can also be used to support the assessment of suitability for Dorset IIRMS. Core also aims to support workforce development by providing training to probation staff and consultative support at approved premises.
Dorset IIRMS delivers individually tailored and psychologically informed interventions directly to people on probation, or those preparing for release from prison, to support them with their reintegration into the community. Dorset IIRMS offers a range of psychologically informed 1:1 and group assessments and interventions to those screened into the Offender Personality Disorder Pathway.
