We provide community-based assessment and support for people across Dorset affected by cancer.
Our team of specialist nurses helps cancer patients who are experiencing high levels of anxiety or stress, or side effects arising from their treatment. It also supports people receiving treatment that could potentially be administered or monitored in the community, and works to prevent hospital admissions as much as possible.
The team offers:
- education and advice on different cancers and treatment options
- monitoring through treatments, including the management of side effects
- psychological support to patients and their carers
- advice and information about local support services,
- liaison between patients and hospital teams, GPs, district nurses and other healthcare professionals
- selected treatments at clinics and in the home.
Patients need to be registered to a GP with a Bournemouth/Poole or North Dorset address in order to access our service.
