Communication Plus

Communication Plus is a 10-week workshop designed to build confidence and provide peer support for people with communication difficulties following a stroke.

Communication Plus will provide you with opportunities to practise your communication in a supportive environment and work towards practical goals.

We provide practical tools and signposting to promote independence and regain a fulfilling life.

Aims of the workshop:

  • To build an understanding of stroke and communication difficulties
  • To share experiences and interact with other stroke survivors (with communication disability)
  • To gain knowledge from other stroke survivors
  • To build confidence in communicating
  • To promote independence
  • To work towards a plan to regain a competent and fulfilling life

Notable workshop achievements

Mr C: independently went to the bank for the first time since his stroke. Mr P: independent bus travel to unfamiliar location to boost confidence. Ms S: started volunteering with a theatre company. Ms Y: taken steps to return to driving.
