Useful mental health support in Dorset

During times of mental health difficulties it is important that support, help, advice and guidance are available at the earliest opportunity. Support may look like specific clinical intervention it may be support from people who have lived experience where the reciprocity of relationships helps build confidence and understanding.

This information sheet provides signposting to adult and older person mental health supports which are available in addition to the existing primary care and secondary care mental health services.

Access Mental Health

Open access mental health support for people in Dorset if they feel they need urgent help and support.

Connection: 0800 652 0190 – free 24/7 helpline for people of all ages in Dorset who are experiencing mental health problems and need support (Also accessed via NHS 111).

Community Front Rooms: Community Front Rooms are open to anyone over 18. They are staffed by mental health professionals and peer specialists.

The Retreat: A safe place to discuss your problems and access peer support (18 and over).
