Come and learn more about working for the NHS in Dorset – and the jobs available

20th March 2017

A special drop-in recruitment event will take place in Dorchester on Saturday (25 March) to highlight the wide range of NHS jobs on offer in Dorset.

Dorset HealthCare will be hosting an open day at the Corn Exchange, in High East Street, from 8am–1.30pm. It will showcase the many roles currently available – not just in nursing and other clinical jobs, but also finance, IT, estate management, catering, housekeeping, business admin and other professions.

The Trust runs 12 community hospitals around the county, as well as specialist inpatient services and a host of community-based teams supporting both physical and mental health.

It employs around 5,500 people, employing often very different skills but all focused on making local lives better. Some of those staff will be on hand at Saturday’s event to answer questions and talk about working for Dorset HealthCare.

The Trust is currently running a major recruitment marketing campaign, targeting public transport in both the Dorset area and London. Since the campaign kicked off in early January, the number of job applications coming through the Dorset HealthCare website have trebled compared to the same period in 2016. And a similar recruitment day in Bournemouth on Saturday (18 March) attracted more than 70 people.

The London adverts focused on nurses and other allied health professionals, but the Trust needs to fill all kinds of posts which support and deliver frontline care.

Fiona Haughey, Director of Nursing and Quality, said: “Caring for people involves lots of different elements, and everyone who works here contributes to that. I would urge anyone who has ever thought about working for the NHS, or who already works in the health sector and wants to take their career in a new direction, to drop in on Saturday and find out more.”
