Vision, values and behaviours
In 2022 the Boards of Dorset HealthCare and Dorset County Hospital agreed to appoint a joint Chief executive and Chair for the two trusts to help simplify decision-making, increase integration and improve quality and outcomes for the people we serve.
In 2024 the trusts agreed to work together through a federated model. This arrangement gives us a framework to work more closely and is an established model being used elsewhere in the country.
In 2024, as part of our federation with Dorset County Hospital, we developed a joint strategy, Working together, improving lives, with a shared vision and mission that guide us in all that we do.
For everyone who connects with Dorset HealthCare and its services, whether a patient, partner or member of staff, we want them to know that we are focussed on improving health, empowering people and supporting our communities to thrive.
Our vision, mission and values have been shaped by our staff, patients and partners.

Our behaviours
At Dorset HealthCare, we have created a set of core behaviours to remind us that how we do things is as important as what we do and achieve. These behaviours set out what we expect of ourselves and each other.
