Colleagues at Dorset HealthCare are delighted to hear the news that recently retired Director of Nursing, Therapies and Quality, Fiona Haughey, has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.

In a career spanning more than 30 years, Fiona worked as a registered general nurse, registered mental health nurse, health visitor and as a leader of nursing and the allied health professionals.

Chief Executive Ron Shields said of Fiona: “She is the epitome of a caring, compassionate clinical leader. Her commitment and leadership qualities have made her an outstanding role model locally and regionally. Fiona inspired many others to follow in her footsteps and she is a fabulous colleague. I am really proud to see Fiona receiving this well-deserved recognition. It has been a real privilege to work with her."

Fiona, who retired in April and now lives in Surrey, said: “I am extremely proud and humbled to receive this award, which is a tribute not just to me but to the fantastic support I’ve had from colleagues in the NHS throughout my career. It has been a privilege to work in the NHS and for Dorset HealthCare, where I’ve been able to support and encourage fantastic clinical staff to improve the quality of care for our patients."
