Learn about local career opportunities in the NHS

12th November 2018

If you are thinking of a career in the NHS, a special event in Poole this month will provide an insight into the huge array of opportunities available.

For the first time, on 27 November staff from all the different NHS Trusts in Dorset will take part in a careers open evening, talking about their work and the training required for it.

Representatives from Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals, Dorset County Hospital, Dorset HealthCare, Poole Hospital and the South Western Ambulance Service will be at the event to answer questions and give advice on how to follow in their footsteps.

A host of roles are available in physical and mental health services, both in hospitals and community-based settings, across Dorset.

These include nurses, psychologists, midwives and paramedics, as well as support service jobs in departments such as IT and human resources.

And staff across these areas will be on hand at Dorset HealthCare’s Headquarters in Sentinel House, 4-6 Nuffield Road, Nuffield Industrial Estate in Poole, from 6-8pm on Tuesday, 27 November.

There will also be apprenticeship information stands, detailing some of the on-the-job learning opportunities on offer across the NHS.

The event is open to people of all ages, with free onsite parking, and you can just turn up on the night.

Clover Lake, Educational Engagement Co-ordinator with Dorset HealthCare’s Learning and Development Team, said:

“This will be a really good intro for anyone thinking about a future career in the NHS.

“More than 30 different professionals will be available to talk about what they do, what qualifications are needed, and the training available to help people develop and flourish. We will also provide information about the many apprenticeships we offer.

“It will be a very informal evening. Whether you are at school or college and considering your career options, or maybe thinking about a change in your working life, come along and find out how we can help you get in, get on and go far.”
