Trust to host Dorset HealthCare Heroes Awards and Annual Members Meeting

1st August 2016

Dorset HealthCare is giving the public a chance to find out more about the latest developments at the Trust at its Annual Members’ Meeting (AMM) on Wednesday 14 September.

This year’s event sees a packed programme including the annual Dorset HealthCare Heroes Awards – celebrating the achievements and good work across the organisation.

Launched back in April last year, the annual awards recognise the work of staff who go above and beyond their roles to provide outstanding care to our patients.

More than 220 people attended the AMM last year, where they also heard about new ideas and innovation across the Trust.

Everyone is welcome to attend, so whether you are staff, a patient or a member of the public, join us at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy at Osprey Quay.

Proceedings will officially begin at 3.30pm with refreshments, in time for the Annual Members’ Meeting at 4pm, where Dorset HealthCare Chief Executive Ron Shields will speak.

This will be followed by a buffet and a speech from keynote speaker Dr Mike Stroud OBE, a well-known consultant physician, who became widely known for partnering Sir Ranulph Fiennes on various polar expeditions.

After studying human endurance under extreme conditions, he has run marathons in the Sahara and trekked across polar ice on numerous occasions. Since 1998 he has been a lecturer in medicine, gastroenterology and nutrition at the Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust.

The Dorset HealthCare Heroes Awards will follow Dr Stroud and get underway at 7pm.
