Lost hearing aids

We loan hearing aids and tinnitus sound generators to patients, which means they remain the property of the NHS.

When we first give you your hearing aid, the audiologist will explain to you that the equipment is on loan, and that if it’s lost or damaged through misuse you may be charged.

At your first fitting and reassessment appointments / hearing aid upgrades you’ll also be asked to sign a hearing aid fit agreement form which will be countersigned by the audiologist and saved to your electronic record.

If a hearing aid/noise sound generator is lost or damaged, we will make an administrative charge towards the cost of replacing the lost hearing aid.

From 1 April 2024 this charge will be £135 per aid. This cost is reviewed annually.

In order to get a replacement, you will need to contact us and then fill in a form detailing how your hearing aid was lost or damaged.  Exemptions will apply.
