Time is running out to nominate for the Road to Wellness Awards!

Do you know someone who has battled to overcome serious injury or illness, or who has helped others to do so?

If so, please put them forward for a Road to Wellness Award. These annual awards are a wonderful, feel good celebration of the success of patients and carers in facing either a physical or mental health condition.

This year's awards ceremony will take place in April, and it doesn't take long to fill in a nomination form -- but you will need to move quickly, as the deadline for entries is midday on Thursday (2 February).

Eight different categories celebrate the achievements of people who have received a health service provided by NHS Dorset HealthCare. Those who are nominated will have made significant progress in their own recovery / rehabilitation, or will have demonstrated great kindness in going out of their way to help and support the recovery of others.

The awards mean a great deal to the winners and those nominated. Last year the Courage Award was won by Ronaldo Rodriguez Kretz, a 10-year-old boy with cerebral palsy. He has made remarkable progress with communication, academic work and with using technology to overcome his physical difficulties. He charmed everyone who worked with him with his smile, perseverance and determination to succeed.

His father Sean said: “Ronaldo was delighted to win his accolade. This is a truly fantastic event with a real sense of prestige, which gives people who have faced tremendous challenges in their lives a real sense of achievement and self-belief."

A gala event at Talbot Heath School in Bournemouth on 4 April will see all the finalists celebrated with a short film and the winner in each category awarded a beautiful trophy.

There are eight award categories: Group award – Kindness – Compassion - Inspiration – Courage – Strength – Carer and an Outstanding Achievement Award.
