This is a tertiary service and therefore is only open to referrals via secondary care mental health services. For appropriate professional referrers only.
The Dorset Forensic Team offers of a range of treatments and support to service users, both within are in-patient unit and in their homes to recover and reduce the risks of re-offending. The Forensic Team is also significantly involved in the multi-agency public protection arrangements and works closely with Police and Probation Services (MAPPA) to support the on-going recovery of those who have come into contact with the Criminal Justice system who also suffer from significant serious mental disorder.
The Dorset Forensic Service provides treatment to those who suffer from serious mental disorder and have offended or have a high risk of committing serious offences.
The Dorset Forensic Team is made up of a range of professionals including: Specialist Consultant Forensic Psychiatrists, Consultant Clinical & Forensic Psychologists, Forensic Community Mental Health Nurses, Specialist Forensic Social Workers, Forensic Occupational Therapists and Support Workers.
The Dorset Forensic Service is accessed via secondary care mental health services or the MAPPA process.
