Final two weeks to get vaccinated this spring

22nd June 2023

Spring Covid19 Jab.jpgThere are just two weeks left for you to get your first or second COVID-19 vaccine dose or your spring booster.

After 30 June, the NHS moves to a targeted seasonal offer for those at increased risk, so this is the last chance for anyone who has not had the two main doses to get yours whilst this is open to everyone. You also need to come forward in the next fortnight if you are eligible for your spring booster for 2023.

In Dorset the NHS Covid-19 Vaccination Programme has provided more than 85,000 people with a spring booster to date and there are still plenty of appointments available over the next two weeks, across several sites in Dorset.

Our larger vaccination centres, community hospitals clinics and pop-up clinics offer walk-in appointments, with a number of GPs and pharmacies offering bookable appointments.

Chief Nursing Officer, Dawn Dawson, said: “It’s been fantastic to see so many people in Dorset come forward to top up their immunity against the virus, which is still circulating in our communities, helping to keep us protected and well this summer.

“I am incredibly proud of our vaccinating teams across the county for their continued efforts providing important extra protection for those that need it most.

If you are unsure if you are eligible, check online before heading down to your nearest clinic, where our clinicians will ask a short series of questions to ensure the jab is right for you.”

Clinical Services manager for the Dorset Integrated Vaccination Service, Paul Bolton, said:

With only two weeks left, if you have yet to get your booster dose so far this spring, don’t delay any further, our staff and volunteers will welcome you at any of our sites and take good care of you.”

This latest vaccination is being offered to those considered most at risk, following advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).

Those invited should make sure their appointment takes place at least three months since their last dose.

The last spring vaccination appointments will be offered on 30 June.

Covid-19 vaccinations for everyone who was aged 5 on or before 31 August 2022 will also end after that date, following recent advice from the JCVI. After 30 June, the NHS offer will become more targeted to those at increased risk, usually during seasonal campaigns.
