Why do you want to be a governor?

I am from a diverse background, have had lived experience and have family members with disabilities.  This in itself has meant I have had direct interface with services both statutory and non statutory, I am aware of the challenges in navigating these services.  I have been a consultant psychiatrist for over 11 years and worked in a number of different trusts and developed affiliations with a number of influential individuals. This experience  in itself can be useful to the council of governors.  I am keen to learn how the council can influence the direction of the trust, its interfaces with other organisations , public health and the services and culture within the county

What skills do you feel you could bring to the role?

I have had extensive training and experience as a consultant psychiatrist.  However in addition my own experiences of working in the trust, the positives and  difficulties I have experienced is something I will draw upon.

We are in a crucial phase within the NHS including  major staff issues, and demand outstripping supply. In addition: sustainability, the environment, net zero targets, my own role as a clinician in relation to this, need to be reconciled. The trust through its initiatives have made great strides towards this however this needs to be consolidated , more could be done through the clinical and non clinical arena and this is something I am keen to explore

Declaration of interest
