Why do you want to be a governor?

I would like to be a Governor so I can support the voice of staff who work in clinical settings and improve services we provided for service users. As a Clinical Psychologist who has worked within a number of different mental health teams across Dorset HealthCare, I have considerable experience of the pressures faced by staff day to day. I also speak to service users and families regularly and have gained an excellent understanding of the areas in which the Trust excels, as well as areas for improvement. My experience would enable me to understand and represent the views of staff and service users at governor level. I hope that the Governor role will allow me to improve Dorset HealthCare for both staff and service users.

What skills do you feel you could bring to the role?

I have worked as a Clinical Psychologist within Dorset HealthCare for many years. I have been a member of different multidisciplinary teams across the county and have in-depth knowledge and experience of how teams within the Trust work and the pressures they face. I have strong service development skills and throughout my employment I have led service development initiatives aimed at improving services for staff and service users. I am an excellent listener and communicator and would use these skills to voice the views of staff and services users to senior management.
