David Roberts

Elected for three years 2021.

Why do you want to be a governor?

I would like more opportunity to meet with the Trust senior management and directors. As one of the lower band workers, and a Union rep I believe I see things from a different prospective, and I could relay any issues they may not see in their position. We already work for an outstanding Trust and hopefully there is always room for improvement. I would give my upmost support to any of my peers suffering from stress & anxiety. I believe staff governor is an important role and would give it the attention it deserves. I think this role would benefit from the addition of a tradesperson as it would normally be clinical, admin or management, as it would give the Trust a wider spectrum of governors

What skills do you feel you could bring to the role?

With my maturity and life skills I believe, I am approachable & easy to speak with. As an experienced Foster carer I have trained in various Mental Health issues MH 1st aid and autism, so I understand some little issues can seem significant. I am the TU H&S staff side chair and work for Estates ,so I am comfortable speaking with staff of all levels. Also I have suffered myself from stress and anxiety so I understand how this affects people . I am able to communicate clearly with confidence, and am highly organised, and also one of the Trusts Mental Health 1st aiders.
