Stephen Churchill - Staff Governor

I want to contribute positively and engage with patients, carers, service users and staff and represent them to help influence the future development of the Trust, ensuring our patients are always the focus of everything we do. Delivering high quality, compassionate care that supports and empowers people to help them make the most of their lives is a fundamental aim of the Trust. I will actively promote the importance of a positive patient experience, and the absolute need to learn and improve wherever possible. Dorset HealthCare staff want to deliver the very best care they can for patients and service users. I will promote the health and well-being of staff because it is so important that each member of staff feels that the Trust supports and empowers them to fulfill their commitment to delivering excellent care to the people of Dorset.

I joined Dorset HealthCare in April 2009 and work at Trust Headquarters in the Complaints and PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) team. Last year, I successfully completed training to be a bank mental health support worker. I have also been a patient of the Trust as I have lived experience of mental health issues, as have members of my family and friends. I will bring compassion and sensitivity to my role of staff governor together with a determination to work hard on behalf of patients and staff.
