Staff Extranet >
The hospital started life in 1889 as an isolation hospital for fever cases and by 1914 the hospital had 28 beds. During the First World War three more blocks were added to accommodate military patients and the hospital was used by the army and the navy in the Second World War.
After a series of rebuilds and refurbishments, today’s hospital is home to Jersey and Guernsey Wards, which provide in-patient care (48 beds) mainly for older people who need physical rehabilitation.
The site also includes Herm and St Brelades wards, in-patient units providing care for older people with mental health needs including dementia.
A range of other community services also have their base on the site including older people’s mental health, memory assessment and stroke services.
