Bridport Community Hospital

Information on visiting sites and inpatient wards

Bridport Community Hospital opened its doors to patients in 1996 and since that date a comprehensive range of services has been added to enhance the lives of people living in Bridport and the surrounding area enabling them to be treated closer to home.

We provide specialties in out-patients and day surgery, audiology, elderly care, gynaecology and obstetrics, ophthalmology, paediatrics, ultrasound and X-Ray alongside physiotherapy, occupational therapy and the mental health team. We also have social services, learning disabilities and the district nursing team based at the hospital.

The busy Minor Injuries Unit is nurse-led and offers a variety of services and treatments for minor ailments and minor injuries.

Bridport Hospital has one 24-bedded ward – Colmers – caring predominantly for patients over 65 for rehabilitation, as well as end for palliative and end of  life care.

The Bridport Hub brings together health and social care, local GPs and community services. This model is being replicated in other areas and is seen as innovative nationally.

Bridport Hospital would not be able to provide many of the above services without the support of the Bridport Hospital League of Friends. Over the years they have purchased specialist equipment for departments and continue to provide help for patients.

If you require urgent care, please call 111 or go online for an assessment. This help us to provide the right support/treatment as quickly as possible, and could save you an unnecessary journey.

If you turn up unannounced at the MIU, you will be assessed but could be directed elsewhere or given an appointment later that day or the next.

The last appointment at all MIUs is half an hour before closing time.

More information on the MIU is below and also on our MIU page.
