Weymouth Community Hospital is situated near the seafront, close to the town centre. The hospital was opened in 1921 as Weymouth and District Hospital, being the main hospital for the west of Dorset.
The hospital does not have beds, but operates a wide range of services run by Dorset HealthCare, Dorset County Hospital and voluntary organisations. These include a Community Urgent Care Centre opening from 8am-11pm, outpatient clinics, day theatres, x-ray and diagnostics, physiotherapy, pain and musculoskeletal services, primary care mental health, older people’s mental health and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
The site also hosts sexual health services, a dental surgery, Community Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services and facilities for the homeless.
Weymouth and Portland Hospitals League of Friends supports Weymouth Community Hospital, and provide a well-stocked tea bar in the main waiting area, run by a team of more than 40 volunteers.
