Courses

Our courses

We co-develop and co-deliver free educational based courses focusing on recovery, wellbeing and shared learning. Our courses have been designed to empower people to find hope, to see and embrace opportunity through building skills and to gain control by putting these skills into practice.

Our timetable of courses is broken down into three terms, spring (January-Easter), summer (May-July) and autumn (September–December).

We are looking forward to our upcoming Summer term, with courses starting at the end of April and running through until late July 2024. Our Summer term timetable and our updated course descriptions document can be found below. You need to register and enrol before you can book onto our upcoming courses.

Face-to-face courses

Although we speak of the REC as a centre, our face to face courses are delivered in various settings across Dorset, including educational, health, social and community venues. The locations include, but are not exclusive to: Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Wareham, Dorchester, Bridport, Blandford, Shaftesbury, Sherborne and Weymouth.

Webinars
Our webinars allow students to engage in online learning. A webinar turns our courses into real-time learning using a compatible phone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer. Our trainers will talk you through some core content and will be able to signpost you to resources that you may then want to further explore to enhance your learning.

We offer two types of webinars, Standard and Enhanced, in order to provide a choice in learning formats and interaction.

What is a standard webinar?

In a standard webinar you can see and listen to our trainers discussing the course content. You will see a PowerPoint and the trainers, you can interact with them throughout by writing in via the questions box.

What is an enhanced webinar?

On an enhanced webinar you will see and hear our trainers and other students alongside a PowerPoint. Students are encouraged to join the session with their web camera on. This is an interactive webinar where trainers and students discuss course content and learning.
